Anita Alexander Swarup is a Surrey-based artist with a BA Honours Art History Degree from the University of Sussex. She works with mixed media, acrylics and charcoal which combines impressionistic painting with her original photographs.

Her work is characterised by its energy and use of light and are often ‘atmospheric.’ The paintings ask you to feel and experience; not to think. Themes are primarily of oceans and rivers, such as the Thames, which ask the viewer to reflect and be inspired by nature and our world. The aim is to make us feel vibrant and alive.

Her inspirations are David Hockney, Monet, and Scottish landscape artist Barbara Rae.

Anita has done some voluntary work with the Orpheus Trust which helps young disabled people with performing and visual arts.

She has exhibited on several occasions with Art Below (working with London-based curator Ben Moore), and has been selected for group exhibitions at Ad Lib Art Gallery in Fulham, and at the Menier Gallery near London Bridge.
